Hello, nice to meet you!

Hi, my name is Jessica Bravo and I am currently starting my sophomore year here at Central. Due to COVID, I will be doing all of my classes from home but will be on campus to work at the front desk in our school's recreation center! I switched my major from Psychology to Journalism after last semester when I took Introduction to Journalism and realized this is where I want to be. I originally wanted to major in Journalism but thought it was impractical so I went against my gut and tried to study Psychology. Journalism is my true passion and I am excited to learn more about it.

A fact about me is my friends always describe me as the "funny friend". In my free time I'm usually making myself or another person laugh. Another thing to know about me is I love Dateline NBC and any other shows similar. I started watching them when I was younger with my father and was always interested in the mysteries within the stories. I also love animals and have a dog named Bear.

I love media because it connects people with one another. I always loved to write and have written in all types mediums since I can remember. Which is probably where my love for factual storytelling has started. I believe journalists in the media have a lot of power and should use it for good. I want to be someone that nobody ever thinks to fact check because I am a trustworthy voice in the industry. It is important to have a good reputation when you become a journalist.

When I was nine or ten, a family friend murdered his mother and two others on my street. I remember the news being on my street for weeks and investigators going around and asking questions and that's when I started thinking about my possibility of being a reporter one day.

I took this course because it is specific for my major in journalism. I am excited for this class. I want to learn as much as I can because I want to be prepared for the possibility of getting a job in this field one day.
